It seems like everywhere I turn I’ve been hearing raves from moms about My Baby Can Read. Even before I flew to visit my friend Stacy in Houston. The last time I saw Stacy was when I shot her maternity pictures the previous summer. I was not able to be with Stacy when baby Roan was born so I have been counting down the days until I got to meet the little guy. Stacy and Ryan have been working with Roan on his My Baby Can Read flash cards and he just learned how to clap!! I didn’t realize how much this would help me through the photo shoot. You can imagine the attention span of a 10 month old, so our favorite phrase to get Roan excited was “Clap your hands!!” He is quite the  little clapper :) . I love u guys. It was so much fun spending time with you all!
Clive Roan03Roan is a thinker. He loved the camera. He would army crawl towards me when I put the lens in his face. See him reaching for it?

Clive Roan 2I love baby toes :)

Clive Roan07Sitting up like a big boy…so you think!! We propped him up while Stacy stood close by. Every time he started to topple we would dive towards him to catch him!  Clive Roan39Clive Roan 3

Clive Roan18He was teething so he wanted to put everything in his mouth. Stacy was getting something in the car when I was trying to take this photo. He loved eating the mulch. I repeatedly had to sit down my camera to run and get the mulch out of his mouth. But when I turned my back he had it in his mouth again. He thought it was so funny!

Malia | Children

June 1, 2010

Here is one of my favorite little girls. She’s grown up so much since you have seen her on my blog. She’s no longer camera shy but now knows what it means to have her picture taken :) We love our little Malia. I know after seeing these pictures, you will too! Her shoes are kickin’ — VANS for little kids are so adorable! Malia Blog copy

Felicity | Children

May 27, 2010

I always feel honored when people make a trip to have my photograph them! Kathy flew to Texas to visit our family and asked me to take Felicity’s 2 yr pics. I was so excited! 1. I had only talked with Kathy over Facebook and was super excited to meet her and her daughter. 2. I love photographing children for Daddies overseas!! Kathy’s husband, Shawn, is in the military so it was very important for me to capture his baby girl — full of life, energy, and giggles! Most of the photo shoot was spent running… not jogging — R-U-N-N-I-N-G [from me :) ]. This is real life photography; I had no time for posing!! Felicity wore both me and her out :) .

It was so great to meet you Kathy!! Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!Felicity Collage 1

The Cockrell Boys

January 5, 2010

This freezing morning I was the photographer on the run… with twin boys and an older brother, you can only imagine how long their attention span was!! I was laughing through the whole session, especially when the boys spotted a cat and started chasing it! These boys are so cute — and they know how to keep you on your toes :) !

Hayden

January 4, 2010

This little boy captured my heart. My mom has a really dear friend and together they have walked through some rough times. Mom wanted to give her friend pics of her grandson, Hayden, for her Christmas present — but keep it a surprise! Mom contacted Hayden’s parents and we met up with them by a old truck. Little Hayden was quite the ham. I sat him on the back of the truck and soon realized I was competing for his attention. He had 2 pennies in his hand that were his number one priority. I asked him if I could hold them and he quickly disagreed. He was determined to squeeze those pennies in his pocket — and not let a stranger steal them!! Thanks Darby and OJ for letting us borrow your son!

Baby Ava

December 9, 2009

I will be honest and admit I was sweating beans before this photo shoot. I have never photographed little babies, nor used lighting equipment other than my flash. When Victor and Michelle asked me to take pics of little Ava, I was excited but nervous for the challenge. I was told to be very patient when photographing babies, but it isn’t until now that I understand what that means. I applaud baby photographers! Ava is so precious. My mom helped me work with Ava to get her to smile; most of the morning Ava was in a daze (haha) but we got an occasional smile. I learned so much from this session and will not pretend to be an expert. I hope you enjoy the pics :) Michelle and Vic, you guys are awesome parents! God has blessed you with a wonderful gift!Castillo02Have you ever tried to get a 4 month old to “sit” in a slippery chair? I have. And it doesn’t work :) Castillo07Look at those shoes!Castillo10Castillo17Castillo22(the daze)Castillo25She loved her feet (and the slick comforter)Castillo28My favorite pic :) Castillo29Castillo41Castillo47Victor is proud of his baby girl!Castillo58She fell asleep, hence patience.Castillo60So what else can do you do when a baby falls asleep and won’t let you pose her? Take pics of her feet!Castillo63Ava woke up and was ready to rock n roll!Castillo77Look closely at her shirt – Daddy’s Girl. How sweet :)

Lindsay’s Niece & Nephews

December 9, 2009

I am absolutely horrible at names, so I can’t even tell you who these children are! Well, they are Lindsay’s niece and nephews, that’s who they are!  I can say the little one by far captured my heart. He ran out the door when I drove up yelling, “Micah… Micah.”

Lindsay is an awesome girl. I met her as a freshman at Tarleton when she gave her life to Jesus for the first time! She had such a hunger to grow in her walk with the Lord! She’s going to school to be a teacher — and she will be an amazing one! She’s living with her family in Fort Worth temporarily, so she asked me to drive down and take some pics of her favorite people! Chuck-E-Cheese seemed to get smiles out of everyone — so thanks Lindsay!

Miss Malia | Children

November 2, 2009

I love my little niece!! She’s still learning how to say my name… I’m “icah”… she’s almost there.  Malia is quite the princess. Sarah, my sister in law, wanted me to take some pictures of Malia so since I was in the area we made a day of it!  We drove to Burleson and Malia fell asleep; Steve insisted he could wake her up and she would be ready for pictures. Like Steve promised, he woke Malia up but things were still a little fuzzy for her :) . Steve dressed her in an adorable black and white dress, white stockings and all. She wasn’t much into pictures so halfway Steve bribed her with Braum’s. Between the Dr. Pepper, chocolate Sunday, and vanilla malt, Malia was on a sugar high. (I’m pretty sure by the way Malia was acting she doesn’t get that much sugar at home.)  After Braum’s we took her to the Pumpkin Patch but she wouldn’t let go of her Dr. Pepper :) After every picture, she’s say, “Dink. Dink.” So here are some shots. I can’t lie — she wasn’t the easiest subject to photograph (thanks to the sleepiness and sugar) ;) .

Debbie’s Grandkids

October 12, 2009

David went on a road trip to Colorado with Ron a while back and on their way back they picked up these 3 little darlings.  These are just a few of Ron and Debbie Wallis’ grandkids.  They came down for a visit so it was a perfect time for a photo shoot!  Aren’t they precious?
